What I’m Playing

The confusion is understandable once one hears the super Midnight Madness theme pre-intro sequence, honouring the classic 1980 film (starring a “Who the Hell is that kid?” version of Michael J Fox and a guy desperately trying to look like Charles in Charge-era Scott Baio, and featuring every character stereotype that they could stuff in to the script) as it so richly deserves.

But this isn’t Midnight Madness. This is something else. Something better. Something rawer. Something that will turn normally mild mannered human beings in to raving savages. Something that goes off the rails right from the midst of the pre-introduction. It’s…

Violent Aggression #8

Violent Aggression vs. Brevity

Myself, James, Liam, Vlad and Kelly (Hey look, I remembered your blog url…) launch an all out assault on truth, justice and anything you hold dear.

During my recent re-construction of the ol’ blog, one of the things I added was a post archive (in that tabbed sidebar to the right…CANNOT RESIST PIMPING MY STUFF). I took a quick look and noticed that last July I had a lot of posts, then it quieted down again. Wondering what that was all about, I did a little looking around and saw that it was the result of the Summer Blogging Challenge. I [...]

Just wanted to make mention of the fact that I’ve cranked this puppy up again. You can read it over here on Tales of Avarice. I’m also considering starting up a second play through of something unrelated (A Front Office Football franchise comes to mind) to kind of keep things humming, but also mixed, over there. That may or may not come to fruition. I’ve also added the same Disqus comment system over on that [...]

Run, flee, HIDE…it’s BAAAAAaaaaaaack. And it’s almost AN HOUR of wonderful audio entertainment! Violent Aggression No. 7 Violent Aggression Overthinks Sodomy Seriously, don’t be scared by the title. Many other fine topics are covered BESIDES the fact that sodomy is our home (Liam’s words, not mine). We can’t be THAT bad. If we were that horrible, would a business owner decide to join us for our recording session? Not unless we slipped him some good [...]

Yes indeed, my story for this contest is done and has just been emailed off. It turned out okay. My initial draft of it was over 2350 words…kind of a problem when the contest had a 2000 word limit. I managed to chop it down, and the final product was 2000 words dead bang on the nose. In case you’ve forgotten how incredibly fantastic the theme picture is, here’s a refresher : Overall, I’m fairly [...]

Just in case people missed my previous post talking all about the side blog I set up for my game stories, you can find Tales of Avarice…and Other stuff (and the next chapter in my King Arthur game, fresh from the oven) over here. Add it to your bookmarks, subscribe to the blog, whatever you wants to do…cause I won’t be posting here every time I put something new up over there. Actually, aside from [...]

I really do intend to get back in to my King Arthur play through. Unfortunately, much of my normal ‘gaming and posting about that game’ time is being eaten up the reading the Blackest Night series. So it’s all James’ fault. And yes, I will have some thoughts about this when I’m done. In short…I like the Blackest Night arc, but I still have issues with the Green Lantern universe…and issues with the overall style [...]

New to the blog? Welcome to how bad I am at titles. This is the second part of my play through of the game King Arthur. If you haven’t yet read Part one, you can find it here. Cornwall is mine. The only province that I can reach without boarding ships is the neighbouring state of Dumnonia. No, seriously, that’s what it’s called. Believe me, we think it’s pretty damn funny as well. Anyway, seeing [...]

Yes indeed, as was promised the play through of King Arthur begins. As with last time, I’ll switch over to italics if I’m going ‘out of character’ to explain some mechanic or what not with the game. This first post will be considerably longer than the following ones to get a bit of a foothold on the whole storyline and get some of the mechanics of the game explained as well. So don’t lose your [...]

I’ve been trying to come up with sort of a writing project for awhile now. Sure, I do the occasional post from time to time, but I want something more regular than that. I was looking through my older posts for some inspiration when I came across the Saga of Eaner Pantalon. Eaner was my character during a play through of The Guild, a delightful priest who had little interest in religion, using it only [...]
