After another 2-2 week (putting me at 4-4 for the playoffs), it’s time to pick the teams that I think will meet for The Super Bowl.
Green Bay over Chicago – I cannot remember any prior time when the visiting, lower seeded team was FAVOURED by Vegas, but that’s the case here. And with good reason. Aaron Rodgers tore Atlanta to shreds last week, and the truth is that Chicago didn’t do very well defending the pass either. Cold weather and the outdoors aren’t likely to hurt the Packers, and their own defense is certainly better than the pathetic Seattle unit Chicago ran over last week. Plus, come on…it’s Jay Cutler and Mike Martz…no just world can actually allow a playoff run where the two of them don’t combine to produce a game that could be a follies video un to itself.
Pittsburgh over New York Jets – I can’t help but notice the lack of smack talk from New York this week. Could that be because the Steelers will actually punch them in the mouth, unlike the passive Pats and Colts they’ve talked trash about the past two weeks? A massive change in personality from a team that can’t shut up to one that shoves a foot in their mouths (to the delight of Coach Rex) does not a confident team indicate. Pittsburgh CAN stop the Jets running game and put it all on Mark Sanchez, and he is more than capable of panicking and throwing it away. Sure, the Jets can rush Big Ben all day, but Pittsburgh actually runs the ball well, and it takes about 7,000 defenders to actually put Ben down and prevent him from going Godzilla on the Tokyo that is the Jet defensive backfield.
