Chester the cat revealed

With Kep gone, the need for a replacement pet existed. It exists no more.

Meet Chester.

Must access foodString monster!

These really are the best available pics, because he doesn’t sit still for very long. To say he’s wee would be an understatement. He might…MIGHT…exceed a pound and a half. That makes him considerably smaller than Spook, who is essentially a 15 pound miniature panther.

Meeting of mindsBonding

Here, Chester plays with Spook’s ridiculously long tail. In return, Spook plays with Chester’s face. Watching these two try to bond is like observing some sort of relationship Special Olympics.

Spook will approach, sort of making that half purr half meow noise cats make. Chester will approach him, then make a pitifully un-manly kitten growl. Spook then spits. Thing is, he clearly never learned how to do that properly, so it’s this dry, rasping noise like something produced by an 87 year old man when he wakes up in the morning. Then one runs away, and the process begins anew.

As for the name Chester, it came from the nieces and nephew. Amongst other suggestions (Orange juice?! I can’t mock too much…dad wanted to name the poor bastard Crackers) was Chester. It seems he is the main character of a series of kids books about a nefarious cat. Whether this one will live up to that pedigree remains to be seen. Right now, he has to bound up and down stairs, and the wood floors are providing a lot of humour in terms of a lack of traction. All of this is very exhausting.

Tired

For context on his lack of size, that is the arm of the couch. He doesn’t take up a lot of room on it.

Further adventures will no doubt ensue. He has quite a legacy to live up to, what with the infamous candle incident in Spook’s past…

Awww…he is ridiculously cute! I have a soft spot for those little orange doods. They are so fun to watch when they play, he will keep spook on his toes. Kelly got a cat too so lots of fun for everyone : )

They’re starting to play a bit, but you have to watch while they are
because Spook is enormous. Even when he doesn’t seem to have intent, he
gets a little too physical just because of the sheer size difference. At
least he’s stopped eating the kitten food, and scattering Chester’s
litter all over the place for what seems to be fun.

Of course, Chester keeps him on his toes by running and jumping in what
seem to be totally random patterns. I don’t even think he knows where
    he’s going sometimes. :)

Ahhhh, so cute. I miss having a young cat. Mine will be 21 in the spring and doesn’t do much except sleep, scream for food, and eat. Enjoy the kitty. They grow so fast.
