Pffft…like I’m letting you people off that easily.
Seeing as it’s been a few weeks with this little experiment, I figured I’d put up a bit of a ‘status update’ kind of post, and maybe coax some of you in to setting up your own account…I’m getting all insidious up in your grill.
Thus far, in terms of actually putting stuff up I’d have to say it’s been successful. I’ve definitely focused on being more active on Twitter, but a lot of that is just taking the stuff I used to share in Google Reader/Buzz and Tweeting it instead. Or actually responding when something hits me about someone else’s content, rather than just chuckling to myself and moving on. My wonderful words DEMAND SHARING! Where else will people learn about weird games, sarcasm and obscenities?!
Definitely ye’ ol’ blogge has seen more activity. Again, it’s really a matter of not sitting on ideas. Instead of thinking “Wow, that would make for a good basis for a blog post” I just write the damn post now. Astounding how that works! I think I’ve been pretty successful in avoiding filler or just spamming out “Laugh at this stuff someone else did!” posts too frequently.
I’ve gained Twitter followers (and ones who AREN’T porn spammers putting up links and saying “Here thoos pics u azkad four” in shattered English), and I’ve gotten some good blog feedback too. So…cool. Yay me?
Hmmm…Shattered English would be a decent name for a punk band…
All in all it’s been a success. And I actually find that I enjoy it more than, say, my brief excursion to the Hellish nightmare land known to some as ‘Facebook’. While I found that monotonous and horrible, this doesn’t eat up all that much time. Plus, I LIKE the fact that most of my ‘worth’ comes from content, rather than my collection of desperate people who seem a bit familiar from Third Grade. Also, who doesn’t love buying and selling people like a good old fashioned slave trade?!
What…too soon?
Empire Ave. says they’ll be adding some new features soon. As in ‘a few days from now’ soon, so we’ll see what those consist of. Some of it is laid out in the preview posts for the changes due Monday (here, here and here) and all in all it sounds pretty good. For anyone who is up for the challenge of trying to put up enough content to be worth something (hee hee!), I still have invites three to send out.
Oh, my one recent complaint…people keep leaving me Shout Outs thanking me for buying shares in them and calling me ‘Mr Riseborough’. Seriously, don’t do that to someone. Now I feel like a decrepit old codger putting around and waiting for the arrival of sweet death. Thanks for that, denizens of the Avenue. Bastards.
