And secondly, anyone who has ever spent time in the Sci-Fi or Fantasy sections of a bookstore knows that those sectors seem to have been targeted by every producer of bad cover art to ever exist. I have found a site that collects and shares only the worst of said art. You can find this place of wonder here. And a recent example (which the curator of this repugnance calls one of the worst covers he has ever borne witness to) :
