King Arthur, content and Empire Avenue

It’s a free for all post of something resembling epic proportions…or something!

So, the King Arthur play posts will be coming later this week. I’m not decided yet whether I’ll be writing from just an observation point of view or actually AS King Arthur. I’m leaning towards the latter but don’t be expecting a pile of Ye Olde English, as that would be annoying and douchey after a short while. I figure the first post will sort of explain the beginning of the game and how it all works in a bit more detail, then I’ll start rolling in to the story after that. Also, I will be holding this to what happens…if Arthur dies on the third day, that’s it.

Now obviously I’m doing this because I want to…I don’t tend to start wasting time on a bunch of crap otherwise. I’m also trying to make a real, concerted effort towards more regular content. I make no promises of multiple posts on a daily basis or anything like that, but I am going to try getting a bit more out there with the blog and the Twitter stuff.

I also want it to be actually MEANINGFUL content (thought how meaningful a Tweet can possibly be is certainly up for debate), so I’m not going to spam a bunch of crap. If I think it’s interesting, it goes up. If I have an opinion about it, it goes up.

Since I kind of dig this whole ‘writing’ thing I’ve decided it would be kinda cool if I could actually, you know, get paid for doing it at some point. Yes ladies and germs, I am selling the fuck out! WOOOOO! Bring on the coke and whores! Not being sure where to find those, perhaps I’ll strike up a friendship with Rahim Jaffer…

Oh yes I did!

Now, I am never going to be the kind of person who writes novels. I don’t have the patience for it. I tend to be easily distracted by something new and shiny and run over to that. Hell, during the halcyon days of writing silly stories, Liam was the rock of those projects. Sure, I’d babble on for 11 pages before he’d get back on the keyboard, but he was the one who kept the thing somewhat on the rails, heading towards something resembling a destination. During my sessions, I’d feverishly skew everything out of control and try to make the train fly. Getting back to the point (yes, there was one), if I could get paid a little for writing content for someone, that’d be awesome.

So, in an effort to perhaps make it a bit easier to ‘sell’ my abilities (if overuse of obscene language and scathing mockery can be categorized as such), I’m going to be making an effort to beef up my writing ‘footprint’. The more crap I can point people to look at as examples, the better chance of perhaps getting my hooks in somewhere. Basically, I’m trying to drown people in such a massive quantity of material that they shout out “No mas!” and just give me some kind of a gig. It doesn’t even have to be full time stuff, just…something.

So, as I’m trying to get my name out in to the world at large, along comes something called Empire Avenue. Hard to describe in a short little sentence (which makes it perfect for my rambling nature), it could best be called as a social network/marketing/virtual stock exchange that can help get a bit of face time. Yeah, that clears it right up…

Soup...or salad? Can't choose, but...but I'm the DECIDER!

You join up, you create a profile, you connect your blog and your Twitter and your Facebook (for those involved in that piece of devilry) in to that profile. You add interests, brands you want to be associated with, all that stuff. And you buy and sell people.

Every profile is also a stock. Everyone gets Empire currency with which to buy and sell stock. You want to find those who are putting up material, since that’s the primary force behind the stock price. By doing certain things and reaching milestones, you earn achievements that give you even more bucks to spend. You also get money at the close of the market every day, based on how productive you were and how well your portfolio performed. Those who have had very active days also have a higher percentage of producing dividends for their stock holders.

You can search people and companies out by location, category, any interests/brands you’re hooked in to, all that jazz. You can also spend your virtual cash on virtual ads to try to bring more eyes to your profile.

Anyway, it’s served as a bit of a kick in the ass that “Hey, I like writing, I should do more of it!”  I’ve been on for a couple of days, and have already gained followers and readers…so that’s all good.

Anyway, that newest addition to the sidebar is my stock. So there you go. You can check out Empire Ave here. Anyone who’s interested in trying it out for more exposure, or just out of curiosity, or because you REALLY dig the whole idea of purchasing shares in human beings, I have 3 Beta invites I can send out. Or, if you’re a dick who doesn’t want my invites, fuck you. Well, that and you can enter your email address to be sent an invite of your very own. And I hate you…unless you buy some of KLF…
