He really was an incredible actor. On the Mamet front, I watched Redbelt last night...what a mess. I thought the lead performance by Chiwetel Ejiofor (probably best know as the main operative chasing the ship down in Serenity) was pretty good. The plot, on the other hand, was a mess. The dialogue wasn't even that good. Most of the characters seemed to be perhaps half developed, and I just didn't care about any of it. Bad, bad movie. Quite true about Jack Lemmon. As for Ronin, I definitely think it was a great action movie, but I don't think it can really be compared straight up with something like Glengarry Glen Ross. One other remarkable achievement that occurs in this flick : Pacino never once ventures in to full bore "ANGRY AL IS ACTING!" mode. It's refreshing. Jack Lemmon is the goddamn man amongst the cast, though. Just a great performance. And I gets ALL the best spam, Liam. Closers get the good spam. I agree that Heist was kind of a let down.
