I Be Champion! Recognize, Bitches!

by Cliff on Dec.28, 2009, under Fantasy Football

Aaron Rodgers knows who the fuckin’ man is…namely, ME. And since he’s the Captain of the Northern Horde, CHAMPIONS of the Pigskin Idiots league, you all best recognize!

It was actually a REALLY close game. I ended up winning by a final score of 241.34 – 238.78. Yes, that’s insanely close. It all came down to the Monday nighter and whose Minnesota Viking would play better…luckily for me, Sidney Rice out performed Chad Greenway, and the title was wrapped up.

So the year comes to a close…with a mo’fuckin’ championship!

Sadly, in the Matrix Games league where the Horde made the final, I lost by 4 points. If Eli Manning had not been a piece of shit, and if Marques Colston had turned in POSITIVE POINTS on the fucking day, I’d be singing the praises of another free game. I now hate Marques Colston.

The Shiva Bowl

by Cliff on Dec.22, 2009, under Fantasy Football

If you have watched The League, you understand that reference. If you haven’t watched The League, go download the fucking show NOW. There’s one season, 6 episodes. Funny, funny stuff.

Yes indeed, the league that I set up this year has reached the championship game…and by some miracle, I’m actually in it! Actually, after a very up and down season where almost everyone had a shot at the final playoff spots in the last week of the ‘regular season’, the playoffs have been relatively predictable. I was the 2nd seed overall, and I’m facing the #1 seed in the title matchup.

Currently, I’m favoured by Yahoo to win by a whopping 6 points. So yeah, this looks close. The President has a roster filled with guys like Miles Austin and Jerome Harrison. They’ll either produce a total of 3 points, or they’ll each score 95, and there’s no middle ground. It’s gonna be close!

It has been an enjoyable year, and if people are interested in coming back next year, I’d be down. And this time I will consult a fucking calendar and NOT book the draft to happen during August long weekend. Yes, I was that dumb. And yes, I just assumed I knew which weekend was the long weekend…and I guessed wrong…at 3:30 in the morning. Not a good call on my part. :)

As for my team overall, my MVP is clear…Aaron Rodgers, my quarterback. He continues to slowly degrade the memory of Brett Favre in the hearts of Packers fans, and produced all season long. Great year.

As for my LVP…hmmm…I’ve cut A LOT of guys who were underachieving, so I don’t have many of them left. So that leaves my first round pick…LaDainian Tomlinson. I thought he had one more year in him. He’s averaging 3 yards a carry. He didn’t.

Surprise guy…there are A LOT I could choose from here. In the end, it comes down to Sidney Rice of the Vikings, who has become a legit #1 wide receiver and Ricky Williams, who rode an injury to his backfield mate to a return to glory. Also, a shout out to the Giants Steve Smith for being the most productive wide receiver named Steve Smith this year…and no, that wasn’t expected.

Bring on the title, motherfuckers!

Good Old Fashioned Funny Racism

by Cliff on Dec.19, 2009, under Laugh, punks!

The Chitling Test of Intelligence. Ever heard of it? Basically, a ridiculously biased test of 15 questions drawn up in the 60’s to allow for ‘fair testing’ of negroes. They constructed the questions to apply to black people. Probably not so funny then, but now…holy hilarity, Batman!

Anyway, even if you HAVE heard of it, you may not have ever actually SEEN it. Well, as a community service to my blog audience (blogience?), I present the test.

Reclaim My Time

by Cliff on Dec.14, 2009, under Err...Stuff

I realize that I said long (LONG) ago that I would give kind of an update on what I’m doing related to Reclaim Your Game. Well, I guess it’s about damn time I get around to actually doing that. :) The crazy part is how incredible different this update will be from what I imagined it might be when I initially posted that not all that long ago.

The quick answer, I left. The longer answer is…SHOCKINGLY…a little longer.

For some time, I had been growing frustrated with the way some things were going when it came to RYG. The focus often seemed to be on doing things in an order that didn’t always make the most sense to me. An example : pretty much everyone agreed that the site needed to evolve in to a non-profit and become a legitimate organization. Yet the next goal for the site is…copyrighting the name RYG and the tag line ‘DRM Watchdogs’. Seems to me that would be easier done AFTER RYG is an official organization.

Decisions would too often drag on…and on…and on. It would be said that a decision required a discussion amongst all admins, and yet that discussion wouldn’t be scheduled for weeks.

Finally, in my opinion, too many people involved had the idea that RYG was beyond where it is. I didn’t see the impetus to take care of the basics…doing things like introducing the site to the gaming press, so that once there was something to be announced it would have a chance of making site front pages. And the simple fact of the matter is, if the basics aren’t done, the rest of it is a moot point.

There’s more, but that gets my point across. I just didn’t see the point of continuing to put in the time and effort when I no longer saw things going in a direction that I felt made sense.

So that’s that. Where do things go from here? Stay tuned, bitches. Yes indeed, I am still throwin’ down the tease. The more things change, the more they stay the same. :)

How Does This Shit Always Happen To Me?!

by Cliff on Dec.03, 2009, under Laugh, punks!

How do these people find me? Do I attract them?

I logged in to Skype today and there was a message waiting for me, a polite Hello from someone calling himself or herself contentwriter 2009. What a lovely way to start a Skype session! Of course, I have no idea who the Hell this person is, but why let that spoil such a lovely greeting?

Then I received a second Hello…the first had been there for some time. Well, wondering who this was, I asked. And that began the strangest conversation that I think I have ever been involved in. I still have no idea who in the Hell this person is and what they thought I do, but goddamn was this fun!

One last warning…this is long. Like 4300 words long. I’m copy/pasting a lot of chat logs here from our IM conversation.

Maybe Liam’s Right…Maybe Mickey Rourke IS Awesome!

by Cliff on Dec.01, 2009, under Laugh, punks!

Rogue Warrior is a new game from Bethesda (Elder Scrolls series, Fallout 3) featuring you as Richard Marcinko, a long time Navy Seal. It looks awful. Anyway, Mickey Rourke, he of the ‘what the fuck is with that dude’s face?!’ countless surgeries is the game’s narrator, speaking the parts of Marcinko in the game. Someone put up on Youtube the final credits part of the game featuring Mickey dropping countless f-bombs and weird insults over a mid 90’s era slow jam beat. It is one of the funniest things that I’ve heard in a long time.

Watching this at work would be a bad idea.

Boom time baby indeed, Mr. Rourke. Glorious.
