What I’m Playing

Stuff that ISN’T like a concentrated ball of rage (for some reason I pictured an angry Danny DeVito running at somebody when I typed that).

A few posts back I talked about Reclaim Your Game, and the stuff I’ve been spending a lot of time on over there (They actually taught me how to use my newfound Admin powers to drop the ban hammer on someone…AHAHAHAHA! Power to abuse is finally within my grasp!). One of the projects I mentioned is the monthly games newsletter. Well, being pissed off yesterday and in a mood to write, I polished off the one for August. So there you go, productive anger!

Anyway, I figured I’d sort of explain a little bit better what precisely I do in these things. Organized chaos comes to mind as a description. I typically start off with those exciting things called ‘sales charts’. Then comes Gaming NEws, which is pretty much financial crap, who’s suing who, who’s taking who to court, ow this guy bought somebody and “Hey look, another political ass hat looking for a scapegoat!”. Then I finally get around to talking about some actual games that came out over the previous month. And actually, THAT part is half the reason I agreed to write them (the other half of the reason being the open invitation to fill the first section with open mockery of politicians and corporate executives). I get a chance to mix in some of the smaller developers with the big name stuff that comes out in a typical month.

The fact that I can amass that much crap that sounds like the epitome of sheer boredom and write it up in a way that people tell me they find it entertaining…I will happily accept that as a measure of success. Now, I was going to start posting them up here since they really are the only writing projects I’ve been working on for quite some time, and I do like sharing that sort of thing with people (you know, beyond the site membership). Then I realized that something taking up just over 14 pages as an Open Office document is going to make for a result that even I would qualify as a blog posting that’s just entirely too long. So, I uploaded the damn thing. It’s in a standard old school doc format, so that should work for pretty much anybody. If you’re interested, you can download it here. The intro bit is basically evidence that, after 6 of these written, I’ve already run out of interesting ways to actually start any of them off. And I actually forgot to write a conclusion. Aside from that, you’re pretty much seeing what they comprise of.

Shit. I’m gonna be the first person you ban aren’t I? Of course it’ll be an ‘accident’, and you were just ‘cleaning’ it and the ban gun ‘just went off’…

    Bastard. (in advance)

AHAHAHAHA! Well…no…wait, you’ve thwarted me. I can’t ban someone who’s EXPECTING it. Dammit!

Just for that I’ve added a mocking little pop up text when you hover the mouse pointer over your blog in my links list! HA! Revenge, geek style!

    LOL

Love it! If only it were true. The wife threw out the idea of us becoming pimps, something about it being ‘illegal’ and stuff. Whatever.
She also throws out webcamming too. I donno what is wrong with her.

All that I’ll say is that I’ve heard that the amateur homemade porn is a good way to make some cash. If she wants to leave those primo dollars sitting on the table…

“It’s like a zombie…only instead of trying to eat your brain, it hands you a Cuban cigar and a pile of illicit money.”

That was really cool Cliff. I suggest you use a bunch of mid-paragraph bolding of key phrases for your news, like a Variety newspaper. I liked that each game coming out had the DRM listed. That’s how it should be; if they’re going to Fuck over the consumer, at least inform us straight up of exactly how we’re going to get raped.

Thank you, James. I appreciate the feedback.

I like the bolding idea a lot, actually. That’s something I’m going to try out next month I think. I’d love to do more than that, actually…pop in some game screen shots, something to break it up a bit from just being a mass of text…but I’m rather limited in what I can do by the forum mailout software. It strips out a LOT of formatting for anything beyond the basics.

Still, the bolded parts should at least help by changing up the look a little bit.
