So yeah, I’m posting. Wasn’t really planning on it but I realized my reply comment in my “CLIFF SMASH!” thread was ridiculously long and may as well have been a post un to itself. And Voila! It’s a post!

There is basically nothing I find more frustrating than not being able to do something. I can handle something not going off properly because I maybe didn’t quite do it properly…I can learn from that and just move on. When it keeps fouling up again…and again…AND AGAIN, in new and exciting ways every single time, and in ways that defy common logic, THAT is when I basically snap. I don’t deal with frustration well. I never have. I’m not exactly well known for being a very patient guy in any circumstance where I’m trying to pick something up. It’s weird…I actually can have a lot of patience for someone else if I’m the one trying to teach them something, so long as they’re trying to learn it. I wish I had that same sort of patience when it comes to myself trying to learn something, but I just don’t. Couple that with something I’ve already sunk a bunch of time in to being screwed up by not knowing how to make it work the way I want it do and it’s pretty much meltdown time.

I’m probably very unlikely to push forward with anything all that massively ambitious like the whole CoH play through idea, though. It seems abundantly clear that the only way it would even be possible to do that in a way that actually works half assed decently is by basically doing the entire damn thing in full bore HTML. And that would basically mean taking the time to LEARN full bore HTML. And the mere thought of that bores me to tears. I couldn’t be LESS interested. And I’m certainly not about to force myself to sit down and be dulled out of my skull for what is always going to be more of a side project.

And I had actually been using Live Writer for awhile, and then stopped using it. I can’t remember WHY I stopped using it, but whatever…I’ll go back to writing my posts up in it again.

So it shall be a return to the tried and true!

Oh, and incidentally, I do blame WordPress sucking for my rant bit appearing twice on Analog Coast.

    You blame WordPress for the double post? I just blame Vlad, those wacky Russians are always trying to make more money by creating knock-off posts, almost indistinguishable from the real thing but never quite up to snuff. I’m not sure how he makes money on them, but I can bet you it has something to do with the black market.

    Curse that Eastern European and his obvious connections to organized crime! Whole family moves here from a country that basically doesn’t exist anymore…sounds like a convenient back story to set up a smuggling syndicate to me!

    That’s right, HTML is too hard to learn. dont even try! It’s like completing a master’s phd thesis while fucking jenna jameson without a rubber. difficult, dangerous, requires a lot of focus and if you perform incorrectly there are a bunch of people who will mock you saying they’ve done her better.

    hehe.. yah, I just wanted to type that.

    I give livewriter two thumbs…. sideways but pointed a bit more up than down. Its not perfect, but its 1000% better than WordPress’ built in editor… especially for jumping back and forth between HTML and WYSIWYG mode.

    okay, my material might be a little weak, I admit.

    and live writer? umm… maybe, actually. It got a new version about 3-8 months ago (I can’t really remember when). It added a bunch of stuff (the most important of which: if you have some minor html error, it no longer erases your entire post with no option to undo – yay progress/not-raping-me)

    So I’m not really sure how CoH.playthrough=must-learn-html… but again, html is faaaaar to complicated for the likes of you. there is no possible way you could understand it, you shouldn’t even be reading this reverse psychology bullshit for fear of osmosising some type of html knowledge.

    CoH doesn’t equal HTML…however, from many suggestions I read while frustratedly searching on line for the answers to massive formatting problems…CoH posts with lots of screenshots = posting in HTML format would probably work better.

    Now, 99% of Internet ‘experts’ are bullshit spewing morons, so it might simply have been that lots of photos trying to set up properly without massive side adjustments = impossible. Either way = pissed off Cliff and a big fuck it.

    Anyway, the new project has started, and I think started well. It’s been awhile since I’ve actually flexed those creative writing muscles and I’m quite enjoying use them once again.
