What I’m Playing

She has entirely too many brains to have an ass like that. — Sam Elliott in Road House

I discovered something online today that simply HAD to be shared with any unfortunates who actually read the content on this thing I have created.

It’s an Anti-Spore site…as in, against EA’s latest game, not against plants spreading their seed around (remember THAT the next time you catch some poplar pollen or dandelion fluff in your face…you’ve just received a moneyshot from a plant). Now, is this guy criticizing the game because of its’ DRM, which has garnered a lot of complaints (and well deserved ones, in my opinion)? Nope. Is it that he thinks the game was overhyped in the previews and doesn’t quite live up to the praise heaped upon it? Nope.

He is attacking Spore because it shows creatures evolving…and is therefore an attack by Electronic Arts upon Christianity. Yes, read that again and let it sink in…and then check out the hilarity for yourself right here!

You’re welcome, by the way.

Okay, I’ve decided I simply have to know more about this, so I emailed whoever’s running it. I have no idea whether or not they’ll respond…after all, anyone who would share their email address on a site like THIS is probably getting flamed more than a Star of David wearer in Nazi Germany. I even managed to come across as politely curious…and, frankly, rather boring. So, I’m hoping to learn a little more about this. Here’s hoping!

  • September 11th is revered in our house.
Lily turned three on Sept 11.

James has found religion, and it makes me happy.
  • I'm so confused...

I want to mock his anti-spore stance for all the reasons spouted by the Reverend Clifford.

Yet, as Doctor Kyle pointed out, he his is also responsible for possibly the most insidious rickroll I've ever encountered... rickrolling his own own audience on september *freaking* eleventh, which tends to be a big deal among the zealots for some reason.

I'm sure he's doing it for his own perceived path to enlightenment angle, but still, I would buy that dude a beer. Yet he's obviously a fool.

    hm....

    *thinks hard*

    *still thinking*

antispore.com is my new religion! Also, I renounce star trek for believing we can travel faster than god's speed limit
  • That was possibly the most impressive Rickroll I have ever seen. Very good!

And, whilst admitting to being duped by it, at least I'm not STILL duped by it, as the majority of commenters after that latest post on the site still seem to be. Hey, one must take their feelings of superiority where one can!
  • Read the Sept 11th post, especially lines numbered 22-26 and realize that a few hundred/thousand people have just been Rickrolled... priceless...

Welcome to my pain. I teach biology, including evolution, to some students who are very anti-evolution. The good thing is, if they want to stay in biology they have to keep hearing about it for 4 years. Most of them, from what I've seen, do get the message eventually that it is possible to believe in God and in evolution. Even though ignorant people on either side make the belief in both sound impossible there are some of us educated enough to see how they can combine without some kind of explosion.
  • this is the way that my mind imagined your email going:

    Dear Christian freak,
I am curious how your twisted mind came up with this kind of bullshit. I'm not trying to flame you or anything but your pointless blatherings have as much enlightenment as the other side of the moon. Y'know, the side we can't see.

So, fucko, if you would be so kind, please explain what train of broken logic led you to this conclusion, because me and all the other guys making fun of you on my blog are all puzzled about whether you are a crack baby or whether you were dropped a lot.

    Boring and curious,

    Clifford A. Riseborough, esq.

I think the esq. would totally make it seem like you're genuine.
  • Wow, you know I'm starting to get a little peeved at this people who figure everything is against Christianity. Sorry to break it to you but not everyone believes in Christianity and there ARE other religions out there then just yours and other theories out there then just yours.

Keep us posted with anything more on this, I too find this funny.
